School parliament aims at building leadership skills in our students by giving them a platform to demonstrate their administrative abilities. Our school Parliament composes of a head boy, a head girl, house captains, Vice captains, CCA Captain and Sports captain who were elected by our students.
Keeping in mind our aim to develop holistic education, we have designed the morning assembly in such a way that it helps students to develop their spiritual, moral, social and their soft skills. Each class is assigned a week to orate, enact, recite and conduct a quiz on a particular theme along with the regular activities like proverbs with their meaning, thought for the day, Thirukkural with meaning, and news reading. We believe that by giving such responsibilities and opportunities, we can build their confidence and eventually help them combat stage fear thereby constructing their self-assurance to face any future challenges.
News Paper in Education is a valuable program, inclined to develop the student’s skills, talents and knowledge over-all. It is a commendable approach initiated by Times of India newspaper. Most of the articles are contributed by students and it includes a wide range of activities that are informative, educative and entertaining. This indirectly helps to cultivate the habit of reading newspaper in children. This exercise of contribution aids in their process of development into well informed individuals. It is an excellent platform for children to showcase their talents and abilities. The Hindu newspaper being issued this academic year will not only help in fulfilling the quest for knowledge but will also help to kindle interest in our students thereby developing a scope for quality reading.
The fulcrum of all the school activities is its House System. The students are divided into four houses namely Ganga, Narmada, Krishna and Cauvery. Under the able guidance of the House Teachers, Students involve in various activities right from prayer to inter house competitions. The house activities are designed in such a way that they imbibe the qualities of leadership, self discipline, perseverance, team spirit in the students. . Points are given to each house based on their performance, preparation & disciplinary note. These practices develop students’ skills, their role in a team and importance of team work & team build.
To promote the ideals of courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service and to groom the young minds of Shree Niketan into disciplined and patriotic citizens, NCC has been initiated in our school. The National cadet corps was inaugurated on 06.01.2016.
Shree Niketan has been at the forefront in introducing new initiatives that helps in promoting excellence and improving the quality of education. In tandem with this belief, we have always placed great emphasis in developing communication and language skills in our students. Time and again we have provided ample opportunities to our students to hone these skills. Trinity GESE is one such program that is designed to complement general English language courses, and focuses on building confidence and motivation in English language communication.
Trinity’s GESE exams test the English speaking and listening skills of people whose first language is not English. All GESE grades hold the ALTE-Q mark, the highest quality certificate for the likes of these exams.
Trinity’s GESE is now used as a qualifying exam for approving UK visas. It also adds great value to student’s CV and gives an edge over other students who have not taken Trinity’s GESE.
Certified trainers from Trinity College London will train our students to take up the exam following which an examiner from the Trinity College London, UK will conduct the exam in February.
Olympiad and Asset exams are conducted every year in our school and are highly beneficial to the students, teachers and parents for assessing the growth and developmental skills. These exams are conducted all over Asia and millions of students appear for these examinations. The school has taken special measures to train the participants to achieve various international awards, state awards and special scholarship..
A comprehensive, developmental program has been designed to assist students in making and implementing informed educational and occupational choices. Career guidance and counseling program develops students individual’s competencies in self-knowledge, educational and occupational exploration, and career planning. As a part of it eminent academicians and career consultants are invited every year to guide the students. It helps the students to focus on their future goals from the beginning in a multidimensional way.
Independence Day, Krishnajayanthi, Onam, Navarathri, Christmas, Vijayadasami and pongal are celebrated in our every year, inculcating the idea of oneness in our country of diversity. Annual day is the stage for all the children to exhibit the talents & to entertain the audience.
- Green day celebrated in the month of June with the notion of identification of green colour, students and teachers were dressed in green. Objects, vegetables and fruits in green were displayed. Children holding a model of a tree were taken for a nature walk. Saplings were planted in the school premise to create awareness for a clean and green earth.
- Rhymes competition was conducted in the month of July, students’ memory power was analysed by making children recite the rhymes they have learnt.
- Kite day celebration was also celebrated in July, where children coloured and made collage work on kites. Following the preparation of kites, an exciting kite show was organized for our children.
- Colouring competition was conducted in the month of August where lower graders coloured a ball and upper graders coloured an ice- cream. Children were motivated to choose bright colour and to shade in a neat manner.
- Red day celebration was celebrated in the month of August in which children were dressed in red, held red roses and sang rhymes on red colour ‘My Red Balloon’. Children enjoyed watching the displayed red objects.
- Fancy dress competition on topic ‘Fruits, vegetables and Animals’, conducted in month of September was an exhilarating experience for our tiny tots.
