PAVING THE PATH TO SUCCESS
Shree Niketan is truly a New Generation Educational Group committed to educate children for life and change. With its novel thoughts and unique student centric curriculum, Shree Niketan has flourished, diversified and developed into one of the leading and most prestigious educational groups of the state. The curriculum devised here is aimed to cultivate new ways of thinking, visualizing and processing idea in the students’ mind. Taking best practices from both contemporary as well as traditional tenets of education, the school offers a custom-created program following the state board syllabus. The curriculum devised here is highly experiential, contextual, and activity oriented and one that is based on multidisciplinary teaching approaches.
The medium of instruction is English. Tamil is taught as Second Language till Class X. Hindi is offered as Third Language and is made compulsory from Classes VI to VIII. We also have French/Sanskrit/Hindi as second language for our Higher Secondary Students to help them meet the Global requirements in their future. All the languages (English, Tamil, Hindi, French and Sanskrit) are given equal importance through the four skills LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
Learning at Shree Niketan, is child-centered and growth oriented. The curriculum followed here extends learning beyond the academic to the social, ethical, physical, creative and emotional development of each child. The early childhood programme is based on age-specific learning process. Sensitive and appreciative teachers create a caring and secure space for little ones in “big school”. For the first time, a space where multiple senses are sparked, investigations triggered into themes and topics, questions and discoveries are welcomed with delight. Together, children and teachers reflect on the meaning of each activity and explore it thoroughly; in doing so, every child finds the learning experiential and relevant.
With a view to fostering child centred pedagogical practices, activity oriented instructional approach is adopted in the Kindergarten school. Singing, craftwork, dance etc are taught for the mental and motor skills to be grained in the tiny tot’s mind.
Children are taught using the latest teaching aids by Teachers who are trained in Montessori methods. On completion of 3 years, children are admitted to Lower Kindergarten and taught through play way methods which stimulate and sustain the interest for learning.
The Middle Years of the schooling or the transition time is the most challenging time for learners as they move from childhood to adolescence. During this period, teachers at Shree Niketan extend the academic teaching by helping students develop critical thinking, solve ‘real-life’ problems, develop knowledge of local and global issues, communicate ideas, engage in public debate and express creativity through action. Through this process, students develop a certain independence and maturity, learn to manage time and multiple expectations and become aware and confident of their academic and personal development. To provide several value added programmes along with the regular courses, the school has tie-ups with reputed knowledge partners in the country.
The School pays particular attention in preparing achievers as better and responsible citizens. Our staff who are exigent and proficient, along with the modern facilities together embellish the value based education in which the knowledge, skills and overall personality of our children are nurtured with a lot of care, planning and implementation.
The Science, Maths, and Language laboratories are well equipped for the students to enhance their knowledge. The current Computer lab includes 50 systems to cater to the skills sets of the students.
The policy of CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) will be followed throughout the semesters. The pupils are assessed regularly and periodically all-round the year. The learning skills, attitude, social behaviors, work habits, food habits, personal hygiene and personality traits of the pupils are assessed through various interactive programmes conducted at regular intervals. The curriculum followed in the senior classes is innovative and experimental. Whether it is an individual child, a group or the whole class, a flexible teaching method that is most appropriate to the situation is applied. Grooming the student at this stage to observe, obey, obtain and assimilate knowledge is done through systematic and scientifically planned training programmes. The aim is to give the learner a sound foundation in conceptual knowledge and in skills of application, analysis and higher order thinking. The shift from a theme-based approach to a more specialized and focused understanding of concepts in varied disciplines helps students gain insights into their areas of interest.
